Research aim
We have the vision to combine clinical and basic research to decrease the global burden of RSV infection. Our mission is to improve knowledge of RSV epidemiology, to develop safe and effective interventions and to strive for global health equity.
About us
We are clinician scientists and lab researchers focusing on the epidemiology and pathogenesis of RSV bronchiolitis. RSV infections cause a major burden for patients, their parents and society. RSV infection is the second most frequent cause of death during infancy, only malaria is associated with higher mortality. We aim to perform gamechanging clinical studies including global studies on severe infection and molecular epidemiology of RSV. RSV controlled-human infection (CHIM) is used as a tool towards a model of sustainable drug development. We have in vitro tools to study the virus and the host response to RSV. Global equity and patient impact are important drivers of our research.
