Our focus

The Circulatory Health Research Center (CHRC) encompasses a wide range of activities in clinical, translational and basic research with translation to the clinic and cardiovascular education. Our mission is to (inter)nationally reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease. At CHRC, the focus is on four patient groups:

Research approaches

The Circulatory Health Research Center has a special focus on four patient groups. The work we do for these patients is strengthened by eight research approaches: Clinical epidemiology and trials, Data science & AI, Diversity and health equity, Disease modelling, Genomics, Imaging, Local drug delivery and Prevention.

Circulatory Health Community

Circulatory Health Research Center creates scientific and societal value by connecting cardiovascular researchers, clinicians and teachers. Because people work in different departments of the UMC Utrecht, we speak of a Circulatory Health community.

Education

Are you interested in the exact cause of a myocardial or cerebral infarction or do you want to know how cardiac failure or arrhythmias develop? Or are you more interested in improving prevention or treatment of cardiovascular disease? Check out the educational program which is strongly embedded within Utrecht University.
