Maternal and fetal vascular health
Pregnancy, hypertension, fetal growth restriction
Research aim
Pregnancy is a challenge, involving two patients. Hypertensive complications including preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction, cause maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. We aim to improve female and off-spring vascular health.
About us
1. Finding a novel approach for the treatment of pregnancies complicated by FGR and PE. Development of nanocarriers to prevent trans-placental passage to protect the fetus and to improve efficacy of therapy
2. Strive to develop, novel techniques for monitoring including measurements of tissue oxygenation (ultrasound, PAI, MRI) to determine the optimal time of delivery
3. We study the vascular development and function in a multi organ approach in growth restricted fetuses and offspring
Big data cohort studies: Evaluation treatment strategies for women with hypertensive disease of pregnancy and/or fetal growth restriction:
1. A multicenter (inter)national, retrospective cohort on pregnancies with hypertensive disorders. Evaluating maternal and perinatal outcomes in relation to anti-hypertensive drug administration
2. A multicenter national retrospective cohort of fetal growth restriction established to optimize timing of antenatal corticosteroids
3. International multicenter registry: Improving care for women with vascular disease, such as chronic kidney disease with establishment of registry (PREGeNEPH) (link van Eerde)
4. Improving care by developing and implementing new hybrid solutions and data driven support by cooperating with the research group of Prof Bekker (link).
