Knee joint preserving treatments

Cartilage repair, osteoarthritis

Research aim

The main goal of our research group is to develop and test joint preserving treatments for the knee joint, for pathology ranging from cartilage lesions to endstage osteoarthritis

About us

Our group consist of basic researchers (PhD-students and postdoctoral) and clinicians. We develop and test new treatments from bench to bedside, like cartilage repair techniques and joint distraction. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a fast-growing problem worldwide. For many patients, a joint prothesis made of metal and plastic is an inadequate solution, therefore we aim to develop treatments that treat pathology that lead to OA or treat OA itself in another way than a knee prosthesis. We collaborate with many partners, like others universities, the government, but also companies
