Research & Innovation UMC Utrecht

UMC Utrecht’s research is at the forefront of innovation, spanning six strategic programs. We embrace a dynamic, multidisciplinary approach, putting patients at the heart of everything we do.

Strategic Programs

UMC Utrecht’s research is organized into six multidisciplinary programs, each focusing on a limited number of disease targets. Patient care is an integral part of these programs. By interacting with patients and society, we create an ‘innovation loop’ where societal challenges drive scientific research, and scientific discoveries rapidly translate from bench to bedside. We have adjusted our incentive and reward system to better align it with our mission of connecting with patients and creating societal impact.
