Our research concentrates on surgical treatment of esophageal and gastric cancer, addressing diagnostics, surgical techniques, postoperative recovery, and prognostic outcomes. By interdisciplinary collaboration we strive to enhance patient care.
About us
Our research group is dedicated to advancing the treatment landscape for esophageal and gastric cancer. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, we focus on the surgical aspects of these diseases, meticulously exploring various facets to enhance patient outcomes.
Our research covers a wide spectrum of crucial topics within esophageal and gastric cancer treatment. We focus on optimizing patients’ preoperative phyiscal fitness, refining diagnostic techniques essential for accurate disease staging, and exploring innovative approaches such as robotic surgery and artificial intelligence to optimize surgical techniques. Additionally, we evaluate the efficacy of pre- and postoperative therapies like chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy, aiming to improve postoperative recovery and prognosis. Despite the multitude of research directions within our research group, our primary goal remains unwavering: to elevate treatment standards and improve outcomes for patients diagnosed with esophageal and gastric cancer.
Collaboration is fundamental to our approach. We closely cooperate with a diverse range of medical specialists, including oncologists, radiologists, radiotherapists, and gastroenterologists. Additionally, we work with paramedical professionals such as physiotherapists and dieticians to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
Together, we are committed to pursuing excellence, harnessing innovative research, and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration to optimize patient outcomes.
