Thrombosis and hemostasis

Bleeding disorder, Coagulation, Platelets

Research aim

We aim to advance knowledge in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis and translate scientific findings into improved clinical care and outcomes for patients affected by blood clotting disorders.

About us

Hemostasis is crucial for preserving vascular integrity and halting blood loss post-injury. Congenital or acquired disorders perturbing hemostasis result in either excessive bleeding or thrombosis and pose life-threatening risks. Operating within the renowned Van Creveldkliniek at the University Medical Center Utrecht, our research group focuses on unraveling the complexities of disorders spanning the hemostatic spectrum.

We specialize in congenital platelet disorders, coagulation disorders, and antiphospholipid syndrome. We conduct translational research to uncover disease mechanisms, enhance diagnostic capabilities, and pioneer new therapeutics for underserved hemostatic conditions. Collaborating closely with patient advocates, basic scientists, clinicians, clinical chemists, and industry partners, we are committed to advancing understanding and treatment options in this critical field.

We welcome the opportunity to work with you to enhance care for patients with hemostatic disorders.
