Research aim
We study how exercise affects children with chronic medical conditions (CMCs). We also use our expertise in our “Pediatric Sport & Exercise Medicine” summer school to apply our findings in clinical practice.
About us
In our current society, there is a widespread lack of physical activity, which represents a significant impediment to the physical and mental development of children. This deficiency is particularly pronounced for children with chronic medical conditions (CMC), who already encounter challenges in participating in activities. Our research contributes to mitigating the disparities experienced by children with a CMC. Through our interventions, we aim to enhance the fitness and well-being of these children, making them ‘Fit for the Future’. In our studies, we collaborate with numerous research groups within the UMC Utrecht, encompassing both the children’s hospital and the adult hospital, as well as national and international research groups.
