Thirteen new researchers at UMC Utrecht have been appointed as associate professors. Each year, such a select group of talented researchers are selected for this position because of scientific achievements and qualifications in research, teaching and management.
To make the full breadth of academic activities ‘assessable’, six different academic career profiles have been established at UMC Utrecht. Scientists who want to become associate professor (‘universitair hoofddocent’, or ‘UHD’) or professor choose one of the six profiles.
Departments and research groups from across UMC Utrecht nominated their associate professor candidates within one of the following profiles: Implementation Researcher, Clinical Researcher, Exploratory Researcher, Methodology & Technology Researcher, Academic Educator or Valorisation Researcher.
All associate professor candidates completed the qualification portfolio that suited them. For example, the Clinical Researcher bridges the gap between clinic and science. Someone in this role does different work and achieves different results than, say, an Exploratory Researcher or an Academic Educator.
Each candidate gave a brief summary of their specific knowledge or expertise. In all profiles, the candidates also described their leadership qualities, development, and internal and external collaborations.
