Research Policy

Our research strategy consists of three important themes:

  • Research policy
  • Quality policies
  • Academic career procedures and policies

To promote and maintain a research environment marked by integrity, UMC Utrecht endorses the Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity and expects that all researchers at the UMC Utrecht work accordingly. Our research policy ensures that laws and regulations that affect scientific research are safeguarded in policies of UMC Utrecht. We guarantee the quality of scientific research by means of our quality system. And our academic careers domain covers central procedures and policies regarding PhDs, associate professors and full professors, including talent programs.

We ensure that laws and regulations that affect scientific research are safeguarded in policies (and procedures) of UMC Utrecht and that the vision and research strategy of UMC Utrecht is reflected in the policies. (e.g. Open Science, Diversity).

By applying for or participating in NIH research funding activities, the University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMC Utrecht), and on behalf of the institution each investigator involved, is subject to Public Health Services (PHS) regulation 42 CFR 50 Subpart F “Promoting objectivity in research”. Six differentiated academic career paths

We introduce 6 differentiated academic career paths highlighting a broad set of dedicated research quality indicators that promote Team Science and Open Science and that are informed by the transition towards new ‘Recognition & Rewards’. This broadening of career paths is formally incorporated in academic appointments and is stimulated by appointing role models.
