Preventive Physiotherapy: Empowering adherence and sustainable movement behavioral change
Exercise adherence, Movement behavior, Secondary prevention
Research aim
Our group aims to empower patients to improve exercise adherence and achieve sustainable movement behavioral change to improve self-management, secondary prevention and the long-term effectiveness of physiotherapy and/or integrated care models.
About us
For secondary prevention and the long-term effectiveness of physiotherapy in people with non communicable diseases (e.g. stroke, heart failure), exercise adherence and sustainable behavioral changes in 24-hour movement activities (physical activity, sedentary behavior, and sleep) are essential.
Within our research group, we focus on:
1. Studying movement behavioral patterns and exercise adherence in relation to patient functioning and future health risks.
2. Developing and evaluating smart monitoring and eCoaching technology to personalize interventions aimed at 24-hour movement behavioral change.
3. Creating and assessing innovative physiotherapy and self-management interventions (using personalized preventive strategies, behavioral change techniques, and eCoaching or monitoring technology) to protect, promote, and maintain health, while preventing functional decline and major adverse events, such as complications, recurrent conditions, or premature death.
