Dutch Thoracic Oncology Cohort (DuTOC)
Research aim
DuTOC aims to collect data from as many lung cancer patients in the Netherlands as possible -referring to all cancers in the chest cavity-. We hope to improve future treatments, aiming to enhance both quality of life and survival.
The increasing complexity of thoracic cancers and the growing demand for healthcare data call for a new approach. DuTOC provides a robust infrastructure for both prospective and retrospective research across participating centres.
After informed consent, the following is possible:
• Collection of clinical data from medical records and the Dutch Cancer Registry (NKR);
• Storage of tumour tissue and blood for future research;
• Collection of patient-reported outcomes (PROMs) and feedback;
• Possible of patient participation in sub-studies.
DuTOC is currently in its start-up phase. By learning from every patient, we aim to improve care and outcomes for future patients.

About us
DuTOC (Dutch Thoracic Oncology Cohort) is a prospective observational study initiated by the NVALT-studies foundation. It brings together experts from various disciplines within and outside UMC Utrecht. The goal is to include all patients in the Netherlands with thoracic malignancies—referring to all cancers in the chest cavity—regardless of tumour stage or treatment type.
The increasing complexity of thoracic cancers and the growing demand for healthcare data call for a new approach. DuTOC provides a robust infrastructure for both prospective and retrospective research across participating centres.
