Biography
Judith Anne Rolanda van Waes obtained her Medical Doctor degree at the Utrecht University in 2008. Subsequently, she started as a resident in Anesthesiology at the University Medical Center Utrecht. She combined her residency with a PhD track about postoperative monitoring of cardiac complications, and obtained her Master of Science degree in Clinical Epidemiology in 2013. After her specialty training in Anesthesiology, she did a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesia in 2017.
Currently, Judith works as an anesthesiologist and clinical researcher at the University Medical Center Utrecht. In clinical care her focus is on major noncardiac surgical procedures and perioperative care for high risk patients.
Research aim
Our research aim is to improve prevention and early detection of complications in surgical patients, in order to reduce morbidity and improve or preserve quality of life, and to develop novel monitoring techniques and advanced AI technology.
