Biography
I received an MSc of Biomedical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology, before completing my PhD in Biomedical Physics at Université Bordeaux I in France. I am currently an Associate Professor of the Imaging & Oncology division at UMC Utrecht. My research focuses on imaging and manipulating the tumor microenvironment with ultrasound to improve drug delivery. I am PI of two projects (NWO-OTP and UHR-KWF) focusing on ultrasound-based interventions to improve tumor drug distributions. I mentored more than 10 researchers to their PhD defense (currently 2 PhD students ongoing), and I am involved in (inter-)national research networks.
Research aim
We develop image-guided interventions based on therapeutic use of ultrasound. We work closely with clinicians and basic scientists to advance translation, evaluation and adoption of therapeutic ultrasound for a positive impact on patient outcomes.
