Biography

Michiel Voskuil was born in Amsterdam in 1973 and studied medicine in the same city, where he received his medical degree in 1999. He has done his PhD at the cardiac catheterization department of the Amsterdam University Medical Center (A-UMC) in Amsterdam (thesis in 2003). His training cardiology and fellowship interventional cardiology were also followed at the A-UMC. From 2010 he works as interventional cardiologist at the University Medical Center in Utrecht. His areas of interest is, outside the regular percutaneous coronary intervention program, structural heart disease, in particular congenital heart disease in adults. He is president of the Working group of Interventional Cardiology (WIC) of the NVVC (Nederlandse Vereniging Voor Cardologie). He is also member of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI). Since 2019 he is associate professor at the UMCU.

Research aim

Research efforts within our group aim to improve outcome of adult patients with congenital and acquired structural heart disease. With continuous advances of percutaneous treatment of structural heart disease we aim to a decrease heart failure.
