Biography
Jannick Dorresteijn studied Medicine (2009) and Clinical Epidemiology (2011) at Utrecht University. His doctoral research focused on personalizing preventive treatment of cardiovascular disease based on statistical algorithms that support shared-decision making in the doctor’s office. He conducted this research partly at Harvard University. In 2013 this led to a promotion with honors (‘cum laude’) at Utrecht University. He trained as an Internist (2012-2019) at the Diakonessenhuis Utrecht and the University Medical Center Utrecht. In 2016 he received a Dekker grant from the Dutch Heart Foundation to continue his research. In 2018, this research resulted in the go-live of http://U-Prevent.com, a website that makes available statistical algorithms for personalization of preventive medication for cardiovascular diseases for use in clinical practice. From 2019-2020 he worked as an Internist-Specialist in Vascular Medicine at Rijnstate hospital in Arnhem and since 2020 at the University Medical Center Utrecht.
