Biography

Drs Elisa Ballan, a Biomedical Scientist, obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Utrecht University in 2019, followed by a Master of Science degree in Bio-Inspired Innovation in 2021.

Currently, Drs Ballan is pursuing her PhD at the University Medical Centre Utrecht and the Netherlands Heart Institute, focusing on improving the quality of donor hearts obtained after circulatory death (DCD) through ex vivo heart machine perfusion techniques. With her interdisciplinary background and ongoing dedication to translational research and transplantation medicine, she is committed to advancing organ transplantation and enhancing patient outcomes, particularly in the context of DCD donor hearts.
