Biography

Bart van der Worp is a neurologist with a special interest in cerebrovascular diseases at the University Medical Center in Utrecht, the Netherlands. He has been (co-)Chief Investigator of the randomised stroke trials HAMLET, PAIS, COOLIST, VAST, APACHE-AF, and MR ASAP and is Chief Investigator of PRECIOUS. He is a member of the Dutch CONTRAST consortium which aims to identify and test new treatments for patients with acute ischaemic stroke or intracerebral haemorrhage. He is former President of the European Stroke Organisation.

Research aim

Our research focusses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of stroke and intracranial vasculopathies, including cerebral small vessel disease and intracranial aneurysms, with the ultimate goal to improve treatment strategies and prognosis.
