Research & Innovation Support professionals work together with our researchers and innovators to achieve our joined strategy, mission and goals. UMC Utrecht has a diverse R&I support landscape within the whole organisation and is continuously working to optimise this.

The Research Office aims to contribute to the UMC Utrecht strategy by being a strategic partner in research and innovation for researchers, innovators, internal- and external stakeholders, management, vice dean Research and Board of Directors. We provide extensive expertise in the domains of research policy & strategy, academic careers, networking and partnerships and funding & support. At UMC Utrecht, we endeavor to turn acquired knowledge into new diagnostic opportunities, treatments, and preventative interventions that can also be applied in daily practice. We therefore support researchers and entrepreneurs in bringing knowledge and innovation to the market. To go from a concept to a start-up, we help for instance with: the protection of intellectual property, guaranteeing of integrity, obtaining of the necessary licenses, and acquiring of funding for the start-up. UMC Utrecht Young Academy

The UMC Utrecht Young Academy is a group of early- to mid-career researchers promoting an open, supportive, and competitive research environment for young investigators. With members from all six strategic research programs, they represent diverse expertise in clinical and fundamental life sciences. Their goal is to advocate for young investigators in policy decisions affecting career development, support, and recognition. They ensure transparency through direct engagement with UMC Utrecht leadership, acting as a sounding board for stakeholders, and organizing career and research events to enhance engagement within the young investigator community.
