Research aim
We aim to inform decision makers – developers, clinicians, patients and policy makers – to achieve affordable, accessible and high-quality healthcare.
About us
The Health Economic Evaluation (HEE) research group at the UMC Utrecht Julius Center and part of the Department of Epidemiology and Health Economics. Health economics is an interdisciplinary research field, which besides an emphasis on economic considerations, also includes impact of social, ethical, organizational and technical aspects. Its name may be interchangeably used with Health Technology Assessment (HTA). Although the fields are not the same, they can strongly overlap.
The value of a medical technology can be defined at different points in its life cycle. For example, in the (pre)clinical development phase (early economic evaluation), towards reimbursement assessment or post market access in the context of re-evaluation or indication expansion.
