Dutch Interactive Award for UMC Utrecht Research Website

The UMC Utrecht research website has been awarded a prestigious Dutch Interactive Award. The award highlights the quality of the online platform, which was launched in October 2024. The project was led by the UMC Utrecht Marketing & Communication division, in collaboration with digital media agency PINK.

On Thursday, June 5, 2025, Anic van Damme, former presenter at NOS op 3, announced during a festive ceremony at the Beurs van Berlage that UMC Utrecht received the gold Dutch Interactive Award. The research website, launched in October 2024, impressed the independent jury with its modern functionalities and user-friendly presentation of scientific research.

About the Award

Since 2010, the Dutch Interactive Awards have recognized the best interactive online work created by Dutch agencies and their clients. This year, projects in fifteen categories were judged on concept, design, user experience, results, and optimization.

The new research website was developed to make all UMC Utrecht research visible and easy to find. The platform features modern functionalities and a contemporary design, making it a valuable tool for showcasing researchers and their work. The website was developed with input from UMC Utrecht researchers, in close collaboration with the six strategic research programs and the UMC Utrecht Research Office.

Dynamic Group Sites

One of the website’s distinguishing features is the ‘group sites’. Research groups can create a complete website for their team within the UMC Utrecht research platform. These sites can include dynamic content such as team member information, news, and various aspects of the group’s research. This enables researchers to benefit from UMC Utrecht’s professional platform, resulting in greater visibility and findability.
