It took place again this month: the Eureka International Summer Course on Translational Medicine. During this annual summer school, thirty master and PhD students and doctors in training to become medical specialists from different countries and continents are immersed in science for a whole week. Some make friends for life there, for others it is even a “life changing event”.
One thing they have in common: these students are all at the beginning of their scientific careers. And in order to use the results of their research in that career in such a way that it benefits the patient, so-called translational science, this summer school is especially intended.
Experienced teachers and researchers from UMC Utrecht will supervise the students, who will be completely immersed in science during six long days at the Utrecht Science Park. What that looks like, participants of the Eureka International Summer Course tell in this video.
“I think I made friends for life,” said student Jaber Asaksak. “Life changing, insightful, amazing,” thought student Leah Dodds. Not surprisingly, the summer school has been held in Utrecht every year since 2016. Are you signing up for 2024? www.utrechtsummerschool.nl
