Matthijs Verhage is a professor of Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms and head of the Human Genetics department at the VUmc in Amsterdam. His research focusses on the biology of the synapse, synaptic vesicles, and vesicle fusion, both in health and disease. His work is multidisciplinary, combining computational tools, with stem cell and animal models. He’s also co-founder of the SynGO project that enables gene-set enrichment analysis specifically geared towards the synapse.
In this hour, you can ask all the questions you want to Matthijs. This can be question regarding your method and make use of Matthijs’ extensive knowledge on synapse biology, vesicles, and genes. Matthijs has over 30 years of experience in academia, so feel free to ask for advice when you feel stuck in your research or ask anything about grant writing or proceeding a career in academia.
