MAY LECTURE – Matthijs Verhage – Human synapse disorders

About the keynote

Matthijs Verhage is a professor of Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms and head of the Human Genetics department at the VUmc in Amsterdam. His research focusses on the biology of the synapse, synaptic vesicles, and vesicle fusion, both in health and disease. His work is multidisciplinary, combining computational tools, with stem cell and animal models. He’s also co-founder of the SynGO project that enables gene-set enrichment analysis specifically geared towards the synapse.

PhD/Postdoc workshop – Meet the Expert ‘Ask anything (method/research/career) to Matthijs’
14:30-15:30; EJ room (Stratenum building 4.153)

In this hour, you can ask all the questions you want to Matthijs. This can be question regarding your method and make use of Matthijs’ extensive knowledge on synapse biology, vesicles, and genes. Matthijs has over 30 years of experience in academia, so feel free to ask for advice when you feel stuck in your research or ask anything about grant writing or proceeding a career in academia. More information on the structure of the workshop will follow when you register. You can sign up by sending an email to braincenter@umcutrecht.nl. The final date to register is: the 24th of April. There is a maximum capacity for this workshop, so be quick!

PhD students who attend 5 RM workshops will receive 1 EC!

Route to Q auditorium (Q.01.2.25)

At the main entrance of the UMC Utrecht, follow the route sign Q. At the end of this corridor (t-junction) turn right and continue to follow the sign Q. Before the lifts, turn right, then immediately left, follow sign Q again. Keep to the left corridor and follow the Auditorium sign. Walk this corridor to the end and turn right at the end.
