Proteomics

Cost breakdown

We are a non-commercial facility for the greater Oncode/life science community.

Costs

To cover depreciation of the instrumentation, maintenance service contracts and local technical support, the facility charges a non-commercial price of €50 per hour of measurement time, plus half an hour of loading time per sample. When a certain experiment necessitates the use of expensive reagents, (such as TMT labels or UPS2 spike-in for absolute protein quantification) these will also be charged.

Joint publications

Furthermore, since experiments are done in collaboration with Proteomics4Oncode, these will result in joint publications between the facility and the ‘customer’.

We're here to help

Whether you’ve already worked out exactly what you need, or you’re still exploring your possibilities, we’re here to help. Reach out to proteomics@umcutrecht.nl if you have any questions, or fill out our inquiry form if you want to waste no time.

Each experiment is unique. But, to give you a sense of cost, we’ve supplied a few examples:

Example #1: GFP affinity enrichment of protein X using label-free quantification — €800,-

  • 4 controls and 4 specific purifications
    • 8 samples total
  • 1 hour run hour loading per sample
    • 8 [samples] x 1 = 8 hours of running time
  • 8 hour running time x € 100 hourly rate
    • Totals € 800,- running cost

Example #2: Whole proteome comparison between 2 conditions using label-free quantification — Deep Proteome — €1800,-

  • 3 x condition A and 3 x condition B
    • 6 samples total
  • Per sample: fractionation into 3 fractions for deeper proteome
    • 6 [samples] x 3 runs = 18 runs
    • Each run takes 2 hours, plus 0.5 hours to load
      • 18 runs x 1 hours = 18 hours running time
  • 18 hour running time x € 100 hourly rate
    • Totals € 1800,- running cost for >6000 proteins
