About Center of Image Sciences
The UMC Utrecht Center of Image Sciences (CIS) is a leading research center specializing in medical imaging and image-guided interventions. It operates under the UMC Utrecht Imaging & Oncology Division and integrates research from Radiology, Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, and provides the bridge between clinical and technical research. Furthermore the Center has a strong focus on Innovation and translation of these innovations to the clinic.
CIS focuses on:
- Medical Imaging:Â diagnosis, tissue characteristics, prognosis, therapy prediction, and monitoring.
- Image-Guided Therapy: MRI- and CT-guided radiotherapy, brachytherapy, High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for cancer treatment, and drug delivery.
- Non-Invasive Studies: Monitoring regenerative medicine applications.
- The IMAGINE Open Innovation lab: here public and private partners are invited to jointly accelerate the innovation of Imaging and Image-guided Interventions, to reduce the workload for clinicians and improve patient outcomes.
