In the UMC Utrecht Technologies Center, we offer a wide range of research facilities and technology platforms that support cutting edge research. These are available to both internal and external researchers and are essential for advancing our key research programs. Our facilities are grouped into three main categories:

Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics is at the interface of biology, computer science, and statistics and enables the analysis of complex biological data. This interdisciplinary field uses and develops advanced algorithms and software tools to interpret genetic sequences, protein structures, and other molecular information. Bioinformatics increasingly relies on Machine Learning and AI techniques to uncover patterns in complex biological datasets, model diseases and predict outcomes. By integrating the vast amounts of biological data, bioinformatics drives discoveries in genomics, personalized medicine, drug development, and evolutionary studies.

AI Labs at UMC Utrecht

At the AI Labs, UMC Utrecht collaborates with public and private organisations as well as other knowledge institutions on societal issues pertaining to AI and data science.

Data Science and AI will become a focus of our health(care) research and education in the coming era.
