UMC Utrecht’s research is organized into six multidisciplinary programs, each focusing on a limited number of disease targets. Patient care is an integral part of these programs. By interacting with patients and society, we create an ‘innovation loop’ where societal challenges drive scientific research, and scientific discoveries rapidly translate from bench to bedside. We have adjusted our incentive and reward system to better align it with our mission of connecting with patients and creating societal impact.
The UMC Utrecht Brain Center provides state-of-the-art care for neurological and psychiatric diseases and develops (personalized) treatments by performing research in the full translational range, from fundamental research to values-driven healthcare. We also educate, stimulate, and train the next generation of researchers and caregivers.
