She has a specific interest in early recognition of treatment‑related lung toxicity and in long‑term respiratory follow‑up, including pulmonary function testing and imaging.

Dr Prevaes obtained her medical degree at the Catholic University of Leuven and completed her pediatric residency at Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital in Utrecht. She earned her PhD in 2016 with a thesis entitled “Early life development of the respiratory microbiome – cystic fibrosis and healthy infants”. Following a three‑year fellowship in pediatric pulmonology (2017–2020), she was appointed as pediatric pulmonologist at UMC Utrecht in 2020.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Prevaes is actively involved in clinical research and PhD supervision, currently serving as co‑promotor of doctoral research on non‑infectious pulmonary complications after treatment for solid tumors. She also collaborates in multidisciplinary care for children with severe atopic disease. Beyond clinical and academic activities, she has a strong interest in medical leadership and coaching and completed formal training in both domains.
