Biography

Marco Guglielmo is a cardiologist and radiologist at UMC Utrecht, with a dual appointment across the Departments of Cardiology and Radiology.

His clinical and scientific work sits at the interface between the two disciplines, with a focus on multimodality cardiovascular imaging (cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, and transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography) and on translating advanced imaging techniques into clinical decision-making and interventional planning.

His current research lines include quantitative CMR in valvular and systemic disease, coronary atherosclerosis imaging, and new advances in CMR including artificial intelligence and open-field CMR.

He leads the imaging work package within the AtheroNeth consortium and the cardiovascular work package within BIOMOTIVE, supervises PhD students, and is involved in the training of residents and imaging fellows.

He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in the field of cardiac imaging. A full overview of his work is available on PubMed, ORCID, and Scopus.
