Biography
Ina Rissanen is an assistant professor in the field of Epidemiology of Cerebrovascular Disease and Brain Health at Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care. Her special interest is the life course of cerebrovascular disease.
Ina Rissanen graduated as medical doctor in 2014 and received her PhD in Psychiatric Epidemiology in 2015 from the University of Oulu, Finland. Her PhD thesis, that was partly done during her one-year research visit at University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, was selected as best thesis in the field of psychiatry in Finland in 2015. She has accomplished special clinical training in general practice in 2017 and is currently specializing to neurosurgery in University of Oulu. In 2019, she graduated as Master of Health Economics, Policy and Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She has also accomplished Healthcare Leadership training in University of Oulu in 2020.
As an assistant professor at UMC Utrecht, Ina Rissanen is involved in several projects studying cerebrovascular disease and brain health. Her supervisor is associate professor Mirjam I. Geerlings. Ina Rissanen is also running her own research theme 'Life Course of Stroke' at Center for Life Course Health Research in University of Oulu, Finland. She uses several large longitudinal cohorts, such as Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1966 and SMART-MR Study, in her research.
