Bas van Balkom

Bas van Balkom, PhD is an Assistant Professor at the UMC Utrecht Department of Nephrology and Hypertension, where his research focusses on in vitro modelling of complex human diseases to reduce the use of animals.  Dr. van Balkom is/has been project leader of several (inter-)national research consortia funded by Health~Holland, ZonMW, NWO, and the UMC Utrecht. He holds board positions in (inter-)national societies (ISEV, hDMT, EUROoCs) and invited participation in expert workgroups on these subjects. Furthermore, dr van Balkom is a member of the UMC Utrecht Research and Education Council and, among his many educational activities, is active as coordinator of the translational education track of the Selective Utrecht Medicine Master (SUMMA).
