Biography

Bart Steensma is assistant professor at the Computation Imaging group of UMC Utrecht, his research line focuses on development of wearable technology for cardiovascular disease diagnosis and prevention. Bart holds a PhD in RF antenna design from Utrecht University/UMC Utrecht, and was trained as a biomedical engineer (MSc degree) from Twente University. In addition, Bart recently co-founded the company PrecorDx (winner NWO Venture challenge fall 2023) to bring the UMCU patented radio-frequency sensing technology to market. Bart works 0.8 fte for UMC Utrecht, and 0.2 fte for PrecorDx

Research aim

By developing and implementing advanced imaging and AI, we aim to enhance individualized detection, prediction, and minimally invasive treatment of cardiovascular disease.This optimizes patient selection, treatment guidance, and clinical outcomes.
