New publication on hypoxic preconditioning!

In our latest study, “Hypoxic preconditioning enhances the potential of mesenchymal stem cell therapy to treat neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury” published in Stroke, we show that hypoxic preconditioned MSCs (HP-MSCs) not only migrate more efficiently due to intracellular proteome changes, but also show a superior effect on reducing brain lesion size and motor deficits than non-preconditioned MSCs. Indeed, HP-MSCs support differentiation of neural stem cells into more complex neurons—likely due to key changes in the MSC secretome. This study demonstrates that hypoxic preconditioning is a promising strategy to enhance the efficacy of MSCs in the treatment of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury
