Interactions between the immune and nervous systems play a central role in the development and regulation of chronic pain. In this context, our group is developing a novel class of therapeutics consisting on the fusion of regulatory cytokines. These fusion proteins retain the ability to activate their respective cytokine receptors, but can additionally cluster receptor complexes that do not normally interact. This induced receptor clustering generates a distinct transcriptomic profile that enhances pathways involved in pain resolution.
