A workshop at the Utrecht University museum

We spent 2 great days running a workshop for families at the University Museum Utrecht

For those of us working in a hospital, identifying the cause of an infection often starts in one place: the diagnostics lab. But for the general public, the process behind diagnosing infections can be a bit of a mystery.

To shine a light on the vital role of the diagnostics lab—and to give young minds a chance to explore microbiology firsthand—Merel van Gogh, Anna Celli, and Moniek Salomons (Group De Zoete) have teamed up with the University Museum Utrecht to organize a hands-on workshop.

Participants stepped into the shoes of a lab technician to solve a real-world mystery: Patient X has an infected wound. What’s the culprit?

The workshop was given twice over the course of the last months, and it was a great success with the little ones!
